Scared to paint heavy?

The strange thing about a heavy paint is how it looks during the process to how it looks finished.

It looks overwhelming when your doing it and that’s where it can get scary but the finished result is so soft.

Ribbons of blonde at the root and strength at the ends - ideal for blondes, great on curls - to the root or not- it gives you plenty of options.

For the best and easiest application I only use clay for this, the consistency is beautiful, the results soft and just the ease of use. My go to is #blonndstudo CLAY7

PRO TIP - Remember though plenty of product is needed - if it’s not white it won’t be light.

Celebrating my top 100 oneshothairawards nomination

Pinching myself that I made the top 100 color video this year.
Loads of my faves are in this nomination and it’s a really incredible bunch of people , talent , passion - I feel truly honored.

It’s my second nod in as many years and my first full year living in the USA, which makes me feel I’m living the American dream.

I love this competition and show, getting to meet so many talented people.

This video has been my best preforming with 2.4 million views and over 48k likes and it really shows the true flexibility of balayage with different ways to paint.

L.A STORIES

This last weekend I was yet again humbled to be asked to judge the lorealpro_education_us style & color trophy in LA.
Firstly I have to tell you the new academy Pro Lab space on the campus is sublime, as an educator this space is beyond what you could want as an attendee your going to love it.

The USA edition of the longest running hair completion in the world only started a few years ago, the entries & standards where really good indeed, take note for next year & start planning

For the finals the competitors had 4.5 hours do the complete look and judging took place during and after. It’s a long day for the competitors and I could feel the energy building throughout the day.

Celebrating is a wonderful thing and you never know where your going to place but what I do know is you have to enter to be in it and that takes an enormous amount of courage to allow your work to be judged by others so well done everyone who entered.

The overall winner will now go on to represent the USA in the world finals. Catch it all August 5th on the lorealpro you tube Chanel.

Hey there I’m Jack

Although everything always looks great on insta the last 12 years have had there ups and downs for me, but I’m here still trying still working on me still learning to be kind to me still wanting more from my life.

The starting image on this reel is me today feeling super confident, fit, clear headed looking for the adventure, at the same weight I was when I left the USA 12 years ago

The second image is me March 2017 in Paris, back from a detox retreat where I’d lost 45lb of the 65lb I’d gained through neglecting myself, I think depression, over eating, drinking not working out.

The third picture is around the time I wanted to give up couldn’t see a way out of my personal abyss in 2016

The last pic is where it all started in my London journey 12 years ago.

Self care is incredibly important, but often ignored, I for one can totally get lost in everything else and put it all to one side, but I’ve found that there have been times when the struggle is hard and I let things slip and I end up not liking what I become physically and emotionally then it becomes a viscous circle.
We don’t know what we don’t know,l until we are shown - I also recognize that I have a huge privilege to have personal trainers and be able to go to detox camps etc. but getting into the headspace of getting healthy, of action isn’t easy but when I’m in it I love it when I’m not in it I hate me.

The reality is life can be tough it can come in hard and it’s super personal. Each journey different each unique and we can only take charge when we are ready - I’m happy I’m here where am I’ll right now and it’s all tasting good.

HAVE YOU USED METAl DETOX?

It’s so easy to use, no added time, you can color straight on top of it. It’s quick and easy to use and clients understand the concept of detox

This is how I use it

1. Take big sections spray from ends to roots very lightly don’t oversaturate the hair it’s a mist.
2.brush through each section before you spritz the next
3. Section off and go mix your color
4. Color and process
5. Shampoo with metal detox shampoo to remove the metals
4. Gloss glaze tone
5light shampoo again then metal detox mask

It’s got this amazing technology in it that seeks out the metals like a heat seeking missile and then the shampoo pulls em out
Leaving your blondes brighter, your reds redder your coppers more copper and your brunettes more brown - totally less fade it’s my secret weapon

Uber fine

around the head as if they are growing from the scalp- I always think it looks amazing & really pretty.

like to use my sustainbeautyco procarehairfoil 24/7 always a win for me because I can pre-cut the foil and get them to the length that I want & the fold that I want and then of course using my #blondstudio 9 with 20 volume for highlights is always going to be pretty for me but I really like that strength of fine foils around the hairline at the moment it’s really just making me happy there’s a trick to getting them close and that is to weave the front not behind around the first few so I can really hit that hairline - there’s nothing worse pulling it back and seeing dark when it’s supposed to be light - so I gotta get really close l- that’s just one those little things that drives me nuts

GREY COVERAGE HACK

Using the same base color on our grey coverage clients is pretty basic and TBH gives the client a sense that they could do this at home, for me I always think that going lighter around the hairline even by just a 1/4 shade can be a game changer. I never just apply to the roots I like to do a mini root stretch because that keeps it softer and more natural and avoids harsh lines.

If you come across a darker hairline - which can be aging a simple hack is innoa clear and 20 vol just feathered on over that dark band after you’ve applied the root formula will lift and soften.

Recently I sat down with hairbychrissydanielle because I really wanted to hear more from her, I first saw Chrissy at thebtcshow when she won last year. I’d been following her for a while and was so intrigued by the powerhouse, she’s super talented and generous with her conversations.

Chrissy is entrepreneurial salon owner operating out of Cleveland Ohio. She's an educator, instagram sensation and inventer of the oft-imitated "blonde road map".
In this episode she talks through BTC, effectively reusing content, salon independence, the importance of authenticity and knowing your products.

How do we evolve, grow, not become complacent - for me it’s being curious, looking learning asking doing. A huge part of it is the willingness to learn, to attempt to do things differently and the most important is wanting to be relevant and current. It would be easy to sit back and just be- but that’s not what I want.

This big paint would never happened for me if I hadn’t gone on a new course if I hadn’t pushed myself if I hadn’t pulled out a doll head. Now the question to myself is what’s next ?

GOOD OR GREAT ?

The difference is the attention to detail I think. Now this little mark could easily be missed - but when it dries it will be there and your eye will be drawn to it. For me the lessons I’ve learnt are to to fix these things as we go along, rather than full panic top lip sweating mode when we blow dry it.

Easy to make the mistake and simple to fix if you know how. - save this for future reference the attention is in the detail.
